HP Sauce (calling all fangirls!)

I watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban last night. It was very good!

I think I remember someone speaking of slash between Harry and Sirius Black, and I think I see what they mean now (beckyc, was it you?) :)

Anyway, it was also very exciting. I haven't read any of the books (except for a bit of the first one in Latin), so the story is all new and exciting to me. And watching a film is so much easier than reading the books when you've got other reading you'd feel guilty if you weren't doing, IYSWIM, and I don't care enough to see them at the cinema, so I usually get my dose around Christmas time.

Well, before PoA, I'd been finding HP pretty predictable. But PoA was different - e.g. because it climaxed much earlier than I expected, featured weird causational problems in non-linear time, and wasn't quite so St Clarey (you know, the stories... like Mallory Towers... boys may want to supply Tom Brown's Schooldays here - typical boarding school fare, only with magic) as the other ones.

I liked lots of things. Everyone in it is very pretty, which is good (er, apart from Emma Thompson, who wasn't). Is there a future book/film in which Sirius Black scrubs up well? I think I'd like to see that. Snape wasn't in it enough for me (is it weird fancying Snape?). Michael Gambon wasn't as good as Richard Harris as Dumbeldore (his accent was Irish one minute and Scottish the next!), but looked the part. My favourite of all was Lupin (I love David Thewlis anyway - he was so good in KoH, and he has such a lovely voice, and his character is so nice in HP!), though it was really very obvious he was a werewolf (I didn't have *any* spoilers before watching this, except the vaguest hint that Sirius Black wasn't evil, so forgive me for stating the obvious). Shame about the lack of Jason Isaacs, but...

So yes, that was enjoyable. Now then, hardcore fans, please feel free to squee in my direction (without spoilers post-PoA please), and especially correct my spellings of names.
