As a younger man (though still played by Kevin Sorbo), Herc ends up adventuring somewhere vaguely eastern. He meets falls foul of a nasty warlord called Borias. When Borias captures and tortures Herc, they end up falling madly in love. But Herc knows he has to thwart Evil Plan X (which Borias had just put into operation) for the sake of goodness and ends up betraying his love. Borias tries to kill him, but Herc escapes. Borias fall sinto depression and is only cheered when Xena comes along.

I think some people would. But the actor who played him died tragically, so I don't really like to think about things like that, and I suspect other people on my F'list would feel the same.
