I'm meant to be working, on what's turning out to be the world's most repetitive editing job. So memes brighten my day with their inherent work-avoidance qualities.
Western. Like Midland, Western is another accent that people consider neutral. So, you might not actually be from the Western half of the country, but you definitely sound like it.
Take this quiz now - it's easy!
You sound more like a New Englander than I do, and I'm actually from there! My father had the classic Down East accent. Because of him I thought everyone had a "spatcheler" in their kitchen until I was about 10 and saw the word written down somewhere.
I will hunt out the Small Faces on your recommendation. Any particular album you think I should start with?
Well, you've lived all over the place, so maybe you've picked up a bit of everything. Or maybe the quiz is just rubbish. You know I read 'spatcheler' in a JFK/Mayor Quimby accent -- is that the one you mean?
Any particular album you think I should start with? Like the Kinks, there are loads of compilation sets. But I think the Small Faces Ultimate Collection is one of the best. Actually I've just looked at amazon.com and it's stunningly expensive ($24 as opposed to £7 on the UK site). But! A seller in Fla is also selling it for £7 new (under the 'More Buying Choices' link).
I'll upload one of their tracks later to let you hear them.

Exactly-- imagine my amazement when I read "spatula" for the first time. We also had a neighbor to whom my father referred as "Tanyer". Poor Tanya, she was a lovely woman really.
Okay, I just listened to the song you uploaded and I don't think it's really my kind of music. I can hear why it's good, but, hmm, maybe a little too British 60s R&B for my tastes. Is all their music like the song you uploaded (All or Nothing)?
Well, when I saw the price you might have to pay for a CD without knowing whether you'd like the music, it was obviously better to upload one of their tracks to let you hear it first. Sorry you didn't like it very much! Their later stuff is different -- fairly psychadelic and pretty quirky (a bit too quirky for me, like some of the Kinks' material) but I especially love their early material. But you might find happier listening elsewhere.
And I see now I completely forgot to thank you for uploading something so that I didn't run out and spend $15 on a CD. So, thank you! I do appreciate it, and I'm always willing to listen to whatever you recommend, of course. Actually now that I think about it I did spend $15 on a CD on your recommendation and it CHANGED MY LIFE. It was "Forever Delayed", of course. I need a Manics icon.
What American accent do you have?
