I'm meant to be working, on what's turning out to be the world's most repetitive editing job. So memes brighten my day with their inherent work-avoidance qualities.

Here's a really pointless one! From ptyx.

What American accent do you have?

Eastern New England. Whether or not you pronounce r's, you have the sound of Boston, New Hampshire, and Maine about you.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!

I sound like a character from a Stephen King story. Great. I thought that my Canadianesque pronunciation of the word 'about' would at least get me an honorary Canadian rating. But New England is where I spend my time when I visit the US, so I suppose it makes sense.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open it to page 161.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

And the left-overs from my music meme during the week. The ones nobody got. The too-obscure people.

2) Martha and the Muffins. They almost made me live in Montreal under false pretences.
3) Idlewild
6) Desmond Dekker. He looks a bit like Lenny Henry there.
10) X-ray Spex (of 'Oh Bondage, Up Yours' fame).
12) The Small Faces! I can't believe no-one got this. miraminx, if you haven't sought them out, you should.
13) Mike Scott and the Waterboys.
14) Catatonia, with Cerys.
15) Mariza.

More work avoidance: I was up till 3am this morning reading a wonderful, wonderful novel-length Sentinel epic. I suspect I'll have to stay up till the same time tonight and tomorrow night to catch up on this damn job.
