Joss Whedon sighted; and there was much fangirling

Busy week. So much fun.

I saw my favourite political cartoonist at the Book Festival on Saturday; my old tutor also at the Book Festival on Monday, talking about history and being her usual brilliant self.

Then Joss!! at the Film Festival on Tuesday night. He was everything I'd been expecting: clever, witty, entertaining, with a smidgen of ( Read more... )

I love Joss with a fire that burns of a thousand suns - which is why I think I'll never meet him or anything like that. Just now I can image that I would be all cool and that we'd hit it off (we have the same sense of humour doncha know) and that he'd think I was so funny and cool that he'd put me in the second series of Firefly that's going to get made after Serenity (this sentence need more punctuation). Then I'd meet Nathan Fillion and gut all the Mal-lovin' fangirls by marrying him and swan around the conventions on his arm signing autographs.

I haven't thought about this as much as that made it sound you know.

However, in reality I know I would grin like a maniac, try to speak and only say things like "Love!" "Joss!" and maybe "mimblewimble!" and then my lovely fantasy is gone forever.

But yay for you meeting him!

You really should have come up to see him. Can you believe that there were a few empty seats? (BCO incompetence by the festival organisers; some of the people in the audience had paid £200+ on eBay to be there.) You would have loved him. I've heard there's talk of a new series of Firefly after the massive success of the dvds. Any second series will be different, though, after the film. (Without divulging spoilers.)

But he's the sort of man that appears at fan cons; I'm certain you'll get to see him if you really want to.

Nathan and most of the others were there on Monday night for the world premiere. I'm not such a fangirl that I went along for that, but I can understand people that did. Mal is wonderful. And your fantasy would never have been ruined, not from what I've seen; they were all fab.

Now I need a Firefly icon. *g*

There are not enough words in my vocabulary to describe my love for Mal. A lot of people fangirl ... uh ... brainfart. SIMON! There, Simon. Some people fangirl Jayne. I fangirl Mal like it's my job. What a terrific, interesting, multi-layered character. Just...guh. And hot, to boot.

I need a Mal icon. Dammit.

Yep - Mal's my boy too. I just love him - how can you not adore a character that complex and who looks that damn good in those trousers?

Empty seats? For the Joss? Weird.

I love how fannish he is - recommending that people write fan-fiction and the like. I think I will meet him one day - he's just too great to stay away!
