The therapist had said that role playing was both a way to learn to trust each other again and help return them to their previous level of intimacy.  Ollie looked at himself in the mirror and tried to find comfort in the therapist’s advice, but that was a little difficult seeing as, well, seeing as all he had to do was look at himself.  He looked ridiculous.

“I’m waiting,” Dinah called from the living room in a sing-song voice.

Ollie looked in the mirror one last time and stepped out of the bedroom.  He stood on shaky legs, but he’d been through worse, he rationalized, and this was nothing.  Besides, he really wanted things to work with his Pretty Bird.  She’d given him one final chance and he wasn’t about to mess it up again.  He was ready to do anything and everything for her.

“Pretty Bird,” he managed before the rest of the words died in his throat and he froze in place.  Hal had dropped by unannounced and Dinah was literally trying to push him out the door to get rid of him.  But it was too late.

At the sight of Ollie, Hal burst out laughing and Dinah looked at her archer with a look that was half sympathy and half wicked delight.   He supposed he deserved it.

Ollie decided they could finish their “homework” later and backed away quickly from the living room.  Hal’s laughter only got louder.

“Alright, that’s it!” Ollie yelled and walked back out, pointing an accusatory finger at Hal, “It’s not like you’ve never worn fishnets and heels before!”

Hal suddenly paled.  Then, Dinah’s amused grin made him blush.

Ollie left again to change, but managed to overhear Hal whispering, “I swear I didn’t wear the choker.”
