“You okay, Pretty Bird?”

“Hmm…where? Ollie?”

“You were talking in your sleep.”

“Was I?”

Ollie wrapped his arms around Dinah and kissed her bare shoulder, “Can’t stop thinking about me?”

She smiled weakly.

“Hope you know the feeling’s mutual,” he whispered still holding her close.

Dinah closed her eyes, the guilt eating at her for wanting to be somewhere else with someone else.

After an unexpected team-up a week ago, Black Canary couldn’t explain and didn’t want to ignore the attraction she felt towards the other woman, so she went back to Gotham looking for those green eyes she couldn’t stop thinking about.  When she ran into Catwoman, who seemed pleased to have been found, the initial innocent flirting quickly escalated into a heated embrace.

When Catwoman removed her goggles and aviator cap, Canary grabbed the short, black hair pulling her into another searing kiss.  It was so different from kissing Ollie.  There was no scruffy goatee, only silky smooth skin.  No demanding hands, only delicate fingers with a knowing touch.  It was so wonderfully different that Dinah didn’t have second thoughts about being led into a strange apartment or having all her clothes removed and her entire body appreciated.

When Dinah told Ollie what happened, he didn’t pretend not to be hurt, but did remind her that what they had was worth fighting for.  There was nothing they couldn’t get through together, he said.  They’d been through hell and back.  They could work it out.

Dinah wanted to believe his words, but he’d strayed too many times and now, she’d done it, too.  It simply wasn’t meant to be.  She insisted on being the one to leave and so left his home for her old city.  She still owned that first apartment she’d never moved into.  Walking into the place she realized it would be one of the few times she was completely alone.   No family around.  No Birds.  No Ollie.

But Dinah would not be alone for long.  On her first night out, Catwoman made her presence known.  The goggles did little to hide her looking Canary up and down, but she grinned innocently as she extended her hand, “Selina Kyle.”

The blonde raised an eyebrow, “A little late for proper introductions, isn’t it?”

Green eyes gleamed mischievously in the moonlight, “It’s never too late.”

Black Canary was usually more cautious, but shook the offered hand, “Dinah Lance.”
