“I know what you're thinking, what if he finds out? Don't worry, he won't. I'll make sure of it.”
Catwoman tilted her head to the side and brought her hands up to rest on her waist, “I never worry about him.” She looked into his icy, blue eyes and thought for a moment, then added, “I'll do it.”
“Good. Then we have a deal,” the smile on Luthor's face made her feel ill, “Study this,” he handed her some blue prints, “I'll contact you tomorrow.”
Catwoman pushed the rolled up papers away, “I don't need those.” She exited the lead-lined penthouse and jumped off the roof.
...
“Are you sure this is a good idea, Bruce?”
“You don't need to be here, Clark.”
Batman tried to focus on the scene in front of him. Lex Luthor had been planning to overtake Wayne Enterprises for years, but he suddenly had gotten into a position to actually do it. And, Batman would find out why.
“What's Catwoman doing there?”
Batman tensed immediately. Without looking at him, he replied, “That's what I'm going to find out.”
...
Catwoman unlocked the window and moved silently inside. She walked over to the desk, where a man had fallen asleep and tapped his shoulder lightly.
“Creesus! Are you trying to kill me?”
She removed her goggles and smiled at him, “C'mon, Slam. Thought you'd be used to it by now.”
“What time is it?”
“Four.”
“You just finish talking to the bald freak?” Slam asked, reaching for the small lighter to light up a cigarette.
Selina swiped it out of his hand, “He gave me the blueprints.”
He was surprised, both by her admission and her quick hands, “Really? Just like that?”
Green eyes glinted brightly even in the dark office, “Well, it benefits him. That's what he's paying us for remem-”
She stopped and both looked up when they heard a noise above them. Selina grinned and put her goggles on again.
“Be right back,” she said as she went out through the window. She made her way to the roof and tried to find him.
“Might as well come out, I know you're there.”
Batman stepped out of the shadows. Catwoman looked him up and down, licking her lips as she did so. Neither spoke and neither looked away.
“Why?” Batman asked, his voice low, a hint of anger laced with it.
“Why what?” she asked innocently, sauntering over to him.
“Stop right there, Catwoman!”
Both of them turned to see Superman hovering a few feet away.
She leaned into Batman and whispered, “Do you always have to bring him along?” knowing the flying hero would easily hear. Not waiting for a reply, she turned again to Superman, “I won't hurt him, you know. And, you can have him back once I'm done with him.”
Superman crossed him arms over his chest, actually making quite the imposing figure. Batman stepped away from Catwoman and addressed him, “I can handle this.”
There was a quick flash of pain across the other hero's face, but he nodded reluctantly and with one finally warning glance at the former thief, flew off.
Batman turned towards Catwoman again, “Why are you working with Luthor?”
Her lips curled into a sly grin, “Why shouldn't I? Because he's your blue boy's nemesis? What does that have to do with me?”
“He's only using you.” Batman stated.
Catwoman laughed, “What makes you think I'm not using him?”
He narrowed his eyes, “It's not like you.”
“And how would you know what I'm like?”
“I know you.”
“No.” she spit out, “You don't. You might have once, but that was a long time ago. Before you chose him-”
She stopped and turned to leave.
“Wait,” he grabbed her wrist, “You don't have to do this, Selina.”
She pulled away from him, “Actually, I do.”
