Well, I should have posted before now, but things have been busy, up until this afternoon dealing with student loan consolidation stuff. But anyway, I should update and talk about the best New Years weekend ever!!!!
Last Friday morning (very, very early AM) I flew to Albany from Cleveland (after a night of no sleep because I simply was unable to reach slumber). Joe met me at the airport (a little late mind you, but all is forgiven considering the fact that he tried to drink a bunch of Brits under the table the night before and ended up on the floor of the bathroom instead). It was so great to see him after four years of just talking over the phone or IM. By the time I made it to the hotel, I was falling asleep while standing up. I keep forgetting that all-nighters are bad for a reason. I slept for a few hours after Joe and I sat around chatting and catching up. Then to Kate's for the party. I somehow, during the course of mingling, found myself plastered up against the side of the refrigerator in the Butler's pantry talking to Joe and Simon's Aunt Jane (who ROCKS, I wanted to take her home with me). Although my placement was totally my fault, stupid me should pay more attention to the flow of traffic.
Perhaps the most entertaining part of the evening was the part when Kate's dad, who is a charming man but was more than slightly tipsy, began lecturing me about not corrupting his daughter before she was married. His reasoning was that she would have Simon's last name and would not taint his!!!! I had fun talking to him:) Joe and I left right after the ball dropped so we could sleep before the wedding.
Somehow I was able to wake up, shower, dress, and be ready for the wedding in plenty of time. We met up with Kate's friends Jeff, Caroline and Eric (all of whom I wanted to also bring home in my suitcase). The ceremony started, and can I just say that the tuxedos that the boys wore were stunning. Kate looked like a princess, and the ceremony was light-hearted and wonderful. The reception was so cool!!!! Cocktail hour followed by a brunch buffet, I couldn't have eaten more if I tried. Saturday ended with a trip out with the Brits for food and a few drinks, and Kate showed up wearing a zip hooded sweatshirt with "Mrs. Moyes" in a red heart on the back, a gift from her sister:) Sunday came with early flights home. I am rested and recovered now, but preparing for a flight to the West Coast the day after tomorrow. Wish me luck!
