"Edwards now has the most progressive message across a broad spectrum ... of any leading candidate I've seen in years. The key phrase is when he says he doesn't want to replace a corporate Republican with a corporate Democrat. ... He raises the issue of the concentration of power and wealth in a few hands that are working against the interests of the vast majority of the American people." - Ralph Nader
For those of of you who know my mother you know she has a penchant for being tacky. Well, my family Christmas dinners traditionally are arguments over religion and politics - those two things that proper etiquette rules out talking about.
Well, I love talking religion and politics. I guess proper etiquette was left out of my DNA. The said, let me talk politics.
I have never voted for a Democrat for President. I voted foolishly for Gray Davis in 1998 when I was barely 18 and look what a shitty Governor that guy was. I am firm believer that most Democrat and Republican politicians are the same. They both take money from the fat cats and as a low-rent politician at certain times myself I can tell you that actions speak louder than words and money speaks the loudest.
I voted for Ralph Nader in 2000 and in 2004 and if he runs in 2008 I'll vote for him again. Now if your a sucker, you'll tell me I wasted my vote. Meanwhile you're probably voting for some lesser-than because he isn't as evil as the other asshole. Hell, "Anybody But Bush." What a shitty phrase that was. Talk about a low pathetic set of standards. Don't throw your vote away on someone you don't believe in. I trust Ralph Nader and his endorsement is probably the one that I can respect more than any other individuals.
I have never heard Nader endorse a Democrat before but in this video interview he practically endorses John Edwards (who polling within a few percentage points from Clinton in Iowa). Now some of you love Kucinich, Obama, Clinton, Paul, etc and you have your reasons but with 40 years of experience damning the man and fighting for the commoner I say: trust Ralph Nader. Vote for Edwards. I am going to register as a Democrat so I may do so. This is a big deal for me.
Don't replace a Corporate Republican with a Corporate Democrat.
