For obvious reasons, I have to quit smoking. I bought the patch last week and I'm going to start it tomorrow. To be honest, I'm terrified to quit. I've been a smoker for almost 13 years and I use it as sort of a crutch. Now what am I going to do when I'm bored, anxious, killing time, etc.? I have no idea how to get through this and I'm having a hell of a time psyching myself up for it. So today I'm smoking way too much. Probably not the greatest of ideas, but once I quit, I don't plan to ever smoke again, so these are most likely my last cigarettes ever and I plan to enjoy them.

Nat has a friend from high school who now lives outside of Montreal with his wife and yesterday afternoon we went to their house for a barbeque. I wasn't particularly looking forward to it, not because I dislike Quintin, but because I wasn't crazy about the idea of spending all that time on public transportation (about an hour and-a-half). It ended up being quite a pleasant afternoon. We'd never met his wife, Margaret before, and she was very warm and welcoming and it was nice to sit outside in the sunshine and fresh air for the day. We got home around six and were both pretty tired from having to get up early, so we took a nap. I have to say, I think it was one of the best naps I've ever had. Normally I wake up feeling groggy and dehydrated, but after two hours I felt pretty great. Although I probably could have slept even longer...

I've read 5 books in the last two weeks (13 days, actually). Not too shabby if I do say so myself. I don't know if I can keep up this pace for the rest of the year, but if I do, I just may make 50 books after all. Or at least get a lot closer than I thought I would be two months ago.
