Day 14 → A non-fictional book

This is my most recently read non-fiction book. I found it absolutely heartbreaking. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who might read it, but Burroughs' father was a monster. I can only imagine the psychological damage he must have done to his family. All I could think about while reading this is how lucky I am to have a dad that cared enough to spend time with me and talk to me and even just hug me. The kind of dad who took me rollerskating and camping and on road trips and to R-rated movies. A dad who never yelled and who cried the one time he spanked me... Fuck, I'm lucky...

Anyways... this book got a lot of flack in the review section of amazon, mostly for being darker and less funny than his usual books (gee, ya think?!) and because Burroughs, in a few spots, claims he remembers things, moments really, from early childhood, and some people are sceptical that it's possible. Obviously they've never heard of a little thing called the subconscious. It's all in there; every last bit.

And, oh yeah, I guess I should mention that I did, in fact, like the book.
