this does not sit well with me: among our list of "learning outcomes" is an emphasis in our texts on ways in which technology can be applied to minimize the ecological detriment inherent in economic growth
arobotar d. jones 17:59
yeah, great
not eliminate
just minimize
so it's accepted that economic growth = ecological detriment
why do was stand by that? why do we accept this?
oh, what a society
ryan carter 18:00
i fear my initiative is still too invested in monetary capitalism
the idea of growth
instead of permanent sustenance
arobotar d. jones 18:01
yup
it's linear, rather than cyclical
but ecological systems don't move linearily
so as long as our economy is not cyclical, it can never be ecological
same for culture and society, i think
as long as we think in terms of linearity, we can't have a sustainable culture or society
and thus, the rise and fall of western civilization
ryan carter 18:02
yes
that is a good way of putting it
i shall plagiarize you henceforth
arobotar d. jones 18:02
pwease, though also know i'm totally using that in my doctoral thesis
aahahaha
