Sadly, after 52 years of existence, Alsons Corporation will be closing it's doors. In 1987, Alsons was bought out by Masco Corporation (a large company with numerous companies within it, such as Delta Faucet and Behr Paint). Masco has determined that it would be to their advantage to merge Alsons into Delta, thus effectively closing the Alsons location and moving everything to Delta's main headquarters in Indianapolis, IN. However, they do not require ANY of the work force here at the Alsons facility. So not only are the people in the plant out of work, but from the very top down. Our general manager, executives, and the likes are all out of work (save for the VP of sales who has been offered a job by Delta).
I have enjoyed my time here at Alsons. It has been a good company to work for, and one where I have made numerous friends. Good people are in abundance here, and I feel horrible for those that are placed in dire situations due to this closure. There's rarely a way to plan for something like this, an I feel very fortunate to be in the financial state I am when this all happened. Still, a few thousand dollars will not last long, and prayers for employment would be greatly appreciated. Not only for myself, but for the numerous employees left here in Hillsdale, MI.
Also, this closure means one inevitable thing. I have to move. This was the only graphic design position in the entire county of Hillsdale. I have already placed some resumes out via the Michigan Talent Bank and Monster.com, and I have been very fortunate to receive a phone interview for tomorrow with a company over in Benton Harbor, MI. This would be great on several levels, but with a HUGE perk of only having an hour drive to see my girlfriend from now on. The 2.5 hour drive (one way) to see her every weekend loses more and more enjoyment.
So, to "WOW" the guy I've been chatting with at the HR department of this company, I've started to revamp my resume/portfolio. Here's the cover. Let me know what you think. ^__^`

deviantART I have a lot of work to do today in order to have this resume/portfolio ready for his viewing, so I'm going to get back to working on that (as work allows). I'm not one to spend a lot of idol time at work. Especially since I like the fact that "work" pays me money to do things, thus they should get at the very least the extreme majority of my attention and efforts. Fortunately, we've been given the green light to work on whatever we can to get us a job as long as it doesn't interfere with daily operations of the company. I still have plenty of work to accomplish here before the doors are shut, and I'd like my last efforts to be on par or exceeding my best performances here. So it's time to get back to Peerless and Delta packaging while squeezing in a page or two in the resume. ^__^`
Take Care and God Bless,

P.S. God has a plan for all of this, and what that is will develop over the course of the next few days, weeks, months, and years. I'm positive that I will be taken care of, as He has NEVER let me down. God is good, great, awesome, kind, powerful, loving, and beyond the realm of limitations. He will, has, and is providing for me, so I'm not really all that worried about where I end up. He loves me and that's enough. ^__^
