At work, we're holding a release party for the next/final Series of Unfortunate Events. We had a SoUE party over the summer with one of the employees making an appearance as Count Olaf (the antagonist of the series, played by Jim Carrie in the film), anyway, his availabily changed so they needed someone to play the part this time around... they ( Read more... )

Count Olaf is an awesome antagonist, though. Really? He's my hero. Our CRM came up with a 13 Weeks of Snicket deal to lead up to the big kickoff party when the book comes out. And guess who gets to be the one hosting that. I may have to put down the new Danielewski and start reading the series again from the beginning.

Part of me is debating flying through the books before hand just to have a better grasp on the character. From what little I have read, he has this awesome ambigous evil that somehow meets classic over the top cartoonism.

As a plus: you can always be 'Count Olaf Disguised as a Bookseller' - though that might be a bit tricky. I think I'm going to help facilitate mine, but alas: I cannot pass for Count Olaf. Maybe I can pass for the person that looks like neither a man nor a woman.
