My last Thursday at Funabashi
Today was kind of disappointing.
1. Chiyoko ran into the guy who did my eye exam and he told her that my astigmatism is really strong and that I should stick with glasses (or get the year-long custom fit lenses) because regular contacts will probably never be comfortable. I'm returning them tomorrow. I'm annoyed because he sold them to me anyway because he couldn't articulate this in English, nor, apparently, in Japanese when I brought my manager to talk to him in the first place.
2. One of my kid students didn't know that today was my last class with her and when Chiyoko told her, she seemed completely unaffected.
3. Another one of my (adult) students (whom I liked) practically left without saying goodbye. I had to call after him to get him to wave.
I had anxiety for about half the day. I think it's starting to sink in that I'm leaving the school. And I have to accept that while some people seem grateful for having had me as a teacher, others don't seem to care either way. It's just depressing, and I guess now I know how my teachers felt at the end of the year.
