I reckon it was about 7 years ago when I first tried contacts. As soon as one made *contact* I flipped the frack out.
Today, I inexplicably decided it was time to try again. It was a bit of a fiasco, lasting about 3 hours (sucking up my huge paperwork day), but I ended up ordering 3 months worth.
For the eye exam, luckily they don't ask us to read kanji in the place of the big "E" and other letters. We look at a circle with a piece missing and point in the direction the missing piece is on. It's not very accurate.
Japan, as a whole, does not believe it proper fits, I do not think. For example, there are often 3 shoe sizes (S, M, and L). So when they gave me 2 contacts with the same prescription and I said "But wait! My eyes are different!" the guy looked at me like "What do you expect? Prescription contacts?" Of course he did not say that, because he didn't have the language skills. But eventually I managed to *order* stronger contacts (and different, according to my 2 separate eyes), but not in the brand I wanted because "they don't make them that strong in that brand". I think he was just brand-pushing.
I wore the weak contacts for another hour and then called it quits and switched to megane (o-o). Hopefully it won't feel so crappy when I get the proper ones on Saturday.
So in conclusion, keep in touch, stay in sight, and linger within smelling distance and all will be well.
P.S. For the record, my eyes are -2.75 and -2.50.
