Our realtor gave the paperwork with our offer to the realtor representing the sellers. Their realtor said that she thought it was a fair offer. She showed it to the sellers. They offered to go down a measly $3000 in their asking price and wanted us to pay the closing costs instead of half as we had offered. What they are asking is still well above the value as assessed by the county. I don't think that they really want to sell the house.
Our realtor discussed it with us, and we came up with the final amount we are willing to pay (and they handle the closing costs). She gave the new paperwork to the sellers' realtor. That realtor has a funeral to go to tomorrow, so she won't be able to see the sellers until Friday. Then we will know whether or not they accept.
And if they don't--there are other houses out there.
