I got up early today and did LOTS.
Somewhere between yesterday's pretty illustration and the comics stuff, still with the same Pigma Micron pen and Moleskine Cahier sketchbook. Drawn from life and imagination.
Our Smilodon pride has discovered their territory was already held by a large pride of American lions, it's turning into all out Big Cat Wars. They just lost their mastodon carcass to the big lion pride, who ate the whole thing. So they need to hunt again and they need to do something about the Lion Problem!
American lions are so close to modern African lions that some scientists consider them a subspecies, not Panthera atrox but Panthera leo atrox vs. Panthera leo leo (the African lion). Saber teeth are less of an advantage in cat fights, they break too easily. Smilodons have longer forelegs though, which does help when they're face-to-face paw fencing.
