I am way beyond myself. It's only twenty to eight and I reached the goal I set for midnight. This rocks. The plot thickens and the actual persons behind all the mysterious magical destinies have owned up to them. Magic carried out some rather specific orders, and Our Hero had all unknowingly sent in his resume for the position. Theirs really. Even Emerald himself was answering one of those silent contracts.
It was pretty cool to see that happen, and in the traditional hero's journey it's one of those points where he must consciously claim the quest. He did early on in a way, but this is bringing it home to him and Emerald had never questioned it.
Onward! This year's should be on size whether it's Very Cool Backstory or an editably enjoyable novel. I'm enjoying it and thinking better of it every chapter. I also like the humor streak in it, it's got some zingers.
