I didn't do a new artwork today. Instead, I took a long nap, got up, and started cutting mats. I'd work on one and stop and rest, work on the next and rest and so on, think it was three or four sessions total. I got the big ones done and then still hadn't matted the little Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo... but while I was sitting still I started marking up its mat and when that was done I got myself moving one more time and did it.
Okay, I also forgot to take a pill, so that may also be why my back hurts so much right now.
They didn't fit in the sturdy cardboard mailers from the post office, so I wound up packing them stacked inside the plastic bag my scratchboard came in, then sliding that between the two big cardboard stiffeners in the Blick box and leaving in the crumpled kraft paper padding. It's secure. It's as solidly packed as I can get it and even has some plastic protection if damp seeps in. The box is actually also marked fragile so maybe it'll get special handling.
And next step is just to go out to the post office, weigh it there and send it. I also cut some strips of scratchboard while I was at it and had the mat cutter out to measure across large sheets, now I've got two strips sized for ACEO and one sized for OSWOA that I can cut down further as I do the artworks. What I need to do is set out a box of some kind for holding precut pieces of paper, board and canvas for doing those small sizes, something organized more by size than anything else. It's too bad my album hasn't got side pockets or the blanks would all go in that.
In between I'm reading Pastel School by Hazel Harrison, half to improve my pastel techniques and half to improve my How To writing, because it is excellent.
I accomplished something today and it was difficult, I should be glad I got that much done. I'll do art tomorrow if nothing comes to me tonight after the pills take effect.
