ACEO Bald Eagle, it came out pretty well even though I've procrastinated for a while on finishing this series. 2 of 3 "Raptor" ACEOs, and I'm not relisting Osprey till the other two are done -- so they all go up together. I wanted to show the brown under its white hood, so it went farther into the distance than the Osprey did. Maybe I'll do the hawk sort of in between, not quite as close-up as Osprey but not as far off as this eagle, so they get progressively closer with larger heads.
My current word count on Nanowrimo is 27,333 according to the Validator. I'm glad I finished this relatively early so that I could pound into the book tonight.
LJ answered my support ticket with "There is no way to turn off "autocomplete" on keywords" and directed me to the Suggestions link, where I filled that out, still fuming over the whole thing. There should be an easy way to turn off that obnoxious feature! Having to deal with the autocomplete when I'm trying to write "colored pencil realism" and it's saying "colored Conte crayon" results in garbles or backspacing -- and it will stupidly repeat itself if I go backspacing over it. Every artwork has a different subject, keywords vary too much to just let the machine pick them. Aside from the way having to mouse or backspace breaks the flow of typing when I can't even look at the keys to find Home Row again because they're laid out Qwerty on a laptop visually and I use Dvorak settings.
Grrrr...
Oh, almost forgot, there's a tutorial on this one at eHow too:
How to Draw a Bald Eagle Head and Shoulders is listed Moderate since I suggested tracing your reference.
And my last two used books arrived today. Yayy, I've got all but one of the Artist Photo Reference series now. Much to my delight, Boats & Nautical Scenes had something in it that wasn't there in the index. Under "Pleasure Boats" there are two pages of Antique Boats... and they're all tall ships at different angles. So I can use it for pirate illustrations! Whoohoo! Artist's Digital Photo Reference: Landscapes is a CD of images and a book with the demonstrations, very neat, with the CD sleeve built into the inside of the back cover.
And my OSWOA/ACEO album shipped yesterday from Blick, way ahead of predicted time. I guess the manufacturer must have sent an early shipment, this makes me happy. It was in Champaign this morning and will get here on the 24th. Whew! Not a minute too soon, as I am stacking up way too many of these little collectible artworks for trade or sale, and will be getting some in trade too!
