About that free coffee yesterday, four of us from CRP went out to find the free coffee. We went to three different Starbucks, which really didn't matter because we probably walked less than two blocks total. Apparently, it was only at the "participating" Starbucks. It smelled so good that I bought some coffee anyway (I'm so ashamed, drinking from the corporate trough). I think it would have tasted better if it were free.
While I'm on the subject of coffee, is it just me or is everyone drinking iced coffee this summer? Well, I guess I'm not. Anyway, everywhere you turn you see iced coffee for sale or someone with iced coffee, and not just the sugary stuff either -- just brewed coffee with ice. Oh, while I was getting breakfast this morning I noticed that they're selling that gas station cappuccino (the kind where you press the button and the power and water mixes before it falls into your cup), and they are charging three dollars for a large! You can go almost anywhere else in the United States and buy 87 oz. for something close to a dollar. Ah, the prices you pay to live in such an amazing city.
Today is our fifth consecutive day of rain. I'm really wishing it would stop. I told
Harpy, and she mentioned it in her Blog, that when it rains in the city, it's like a close friend turning on you. It was only the day before you were passing a flower stand or a famous American landmark going, "I just love this city. This is the perfect city for me." Then it rains. The traffic starts going crazy, and no one uses proper etiquette. I've never seen the running of the bulls, but from what I hear, it may be a similar experience.
While
Harpy is on this mind, you must read this
entry she wrote. It's so true.
Okay, it's time to grab some coffee. It's free at the office, unlike those Starbucks not participating in The Devil Wears Prada promo. That probably won't stop me from wanting to go see it at the movies this weekend, though.
