I see my friends in the desert relate the recent temperatures. I don't care if it is a dry heat, it's still heat.
I got to my office today and only one ball was floating. In my Gallileo thermometer, that is. That is the 82° ball. So, it was at least that temperature, maybe higher in my little office. I instantly started to lose energy. I turned on my fan, but it was only moving around the hot air. As 8:30 rolled around I was getting progressively weaker and incoherent. I couldn't concentrate. I was panting and starting to doze off. I was also getting sick to my stomache.
My boss stopped by my office around 8:45 on her morning rounds to say hi to all of us. She asked how I was, and I told her, "Bad." I told her I was overheating. She looked at me again and said, "Your face is all red. I'm going to tell Karen to turn down the AC."
Thank you.
About 20 minutes later, with the fan blowing directly on my body and with cooler air coming from the vents I was feeling fairly normal.
People scoff at me when I say that 75° is my upper comfort limit. At least now someone has seen the physical distress that heat causes me.
