Ar ar ar ar.

There. I've had a Tim Allen moment.

We've a backed-up kitchen sink all week. This house is 60 years old, with the original plumbing (and wiring!). The kitchen sink has always had problems. The drain is usually slow. On top of that, the washer dumps into the same pipe. Why do they make self-cleaning washers? I mean, what's the point of trapping the lint, if the washer is just going to flush it out into the system?

So anyway, the drain is usually gunked up. Last week it pretty much stopped entirely. Over the week, we've dumped a whole bottle of industrial strength Liquid Plumber into it. It still drained slowly. Dishes piled up on the sink because it was just too nasty to wash. The sink would fill up with nasty water, then you'd have to wait a half hour or more for it to drain. Tonight, i've been doing dishes. It actually works well that I can fill the drip tray about the time the sink gets full. After the 3rd load of dishes, I decided to try good old fashioned means again. I picked up the plunger, which to this point only pulled half-decayed bits back up into the sink. I plunged the hell out ot the sink. I plunged, nothing happened. I plunged again, still nothing. I stuck the rubber bell over the drain and pumped that stick up and down like a butter churner on speed. Whoosh! It drained quickly. YAY! I ran hot water and it kept draining. The pipe didn't fill up to the drain like it had been doing. It drains!

Ar ar ar ar ar.

Then I changed the overhead light bulbs in the bathrooms that have been blown out for 2 weeks.

Ar ar ar.

I guess if I said I've been doing laundry as well, that will take away some of the butch points I've earned.
