Go, Speed, Go!
Speed Racer kicks major ass. From the reviews I'd read, I was expecting to get a headache from the, uh, speed of racecars zipping around. I was pleasantly surprised that I suffered no ill effects. (Would that I could say the same for the last 2 Star Wars flix.)
If you have a leather fetish (at least a racing leathers fetish), this movie is for you. Racer X is in all-black racing leathers AND head mask (YUM!). Speed wears all-white leathers in the final race. Several variations on this theme throughout the movie. It doesn't hurt that the actors playing Rex and X are both good looking.
John Goodman IS Pops Racer! Christina Ricci does a damned good job as Trixie. And the kid they got for Spritle is perfect.
I just wish it didn't cost $9, or I'd go watch it a few more times.
