Great Jumping Jeebuz on a pogostick

Phil finally got the "new" Windstar this morning. We went to Lowe's after dinner to get a spare key made. He decided to get 3 keys. I pay my $6.41 at the register and we go out to the car to test one. The key turns and some lights come on, but the starter doesn't even click. We tried all three new keys. Same problem. I told Phil there was probably something in the key.

Sure enough, after 15 minutes of googling, I found reference to a Passive Anti-Theft system. I had previously looked under "key" in the owner's manual and didn't find anything. A search for Anti-theft turned up the relevant info. We have to take the damn van to a fricking Ford Dealership to purchase spare keys and have the onboard computer programmed to accept them.

More like Passive-Aggressive Anti theft system. And another way Ford insures some income.
