the one good thing about sticking to tiny fandoms is that you don't tend to get the crazies. on the other hand, there's not much fic.

Exactly, small fandoms and fandoms of two from now on, at the most. I cannot deal with any more of the bullshit or bad behavior from big fandoms, so fuck the lot of them.

to be honest, i don't even know how big fandoms work anymore. if i do write/read for one of them, i just post my shit and move on. all this wanking and debating and whatnot seems kind of pointless to me most of the time. i'm here for the fun of it, not to write a dissertation.

They don't work, as far as I can see. It mostly seems to be wank, pretentious meta, more wank, scolding people for having different opinions than yours, even more wank, crazy fen behaving badly, too much wank, and people whipping out their fandom degrees to start wank lecture people under the guise of educating them about their ignorance.

This is why I don't get involved in any kind of fandom anymore when I like a show or a book or a band. I'm tired of being angry and frustrated and watching people acting like jackasses. I get enough of that shit in real life, I don't need it in something that's supposed to be my fun hobby.
