For the Next Time

Location: East Weyr
Time: Late morning on Day 15, Month 7, Turn 2
Players: K'rom and Roa
Scene: Roa touches base with K'rom and even gets to be all goldriderly. Just a little.

It's late morning on the 15th, and the newest Reachian weyrwoman is looking a mite worn, dark shadows under her eyes. But she's standing taller than she has in a few sevens, and moving with a quiet sense of purpose. Tialith sent out her request on the heels of Iusath's contact so Roa is waiting quietly out on the ledge, and giving Tialith a bit of an oil as she waits. A particular spot on the gold's lower right forearm is getting rubbed with the oilbrush. The queen has her eyes closed and occasionally groans quietly in appreciation. Ahh. No more itch.

One of the watch dragons, one of Kie's friends judging by Kie's thanks, drops Kie off as he waves and he enters the weyr, chewing on his lower lip. "Thank you for seeing me Roa. I know it must be hectic for you." Kie doesn't seem like he got much sleep, but he nods at the goldrider and smiles at Tialith.

The weyrwoman glances over as K'rom arrives, giving the dry spot a final few swipes with the brush before setting it aside. "Of course, K'rom. How are you holding up? Tell me what's happened since we last spoke. Morley should have taken his first post this morning. Was he there?" Roa is walking back into the weyr now, gesturing with a jerk of her head for the weyrling to follow.

K'rom slowly follows Roa deeper into the weyr as he answers, "Yes he was there. Probably would of came with me here until he relaxed when I said I'd be with you and trusted the person dropping me off completely." Kie shakes his head and sighs slightly, "Well, I spoke with N'ka. I also had some questions about Donavon...." Kie pauses there, unsure if he should be asking those and shakes his head is disbelief of what's going on.

Roa picks up the chair near her desk, carrying it over to near the bed. It's on the edge of the bed that the weyrwoman seats herself, lifting a hand to offer the chair to K'rom. "What did N'ka say, then? We can start there."

K'rom nods in thanks as he takes the offered seat and chews on his lower lip, "Well, he isn't happy, but he says he'll testify if he's sure E'sere will be convicted. N'ka isn't sure what he knows will be of use though." Kie sighs and shakes his head, "He wanted to know more about when the trial will be and if I'd be safe. I told him you'd want to talk to him."

A small, slow nod. "I'll be glad to speak with N'ka and explain what's going to happen. I don't think, at this very moment, E'sere is much of a danger to anyone. Now," Roa exhales a crisp breath. "What is it you wish to know about Donavon?"

K'rom nods at Roa's response and smiles a little. Then Donavon. Kie chews on his lower lip again and looks at Roa, "What else did Donavon do? I-I only know for sure he blackmailed the guy and suspect more. From what you said, he did more? Will you please tell me?" Kie seems determined to know. Well, if he was going have have guards and maybe get hurt.....who wouldn't want to know?

"Well," Roa begins slowly, "In truth we don't yet know the full extent of the things he's done, but he has played a part in some of the troubles that have been happening at the Weyr. We know that he was the one who was harassing a girl named Peria. And we know," here Roa pauses again to regard K'rom while lightly clasping her hands in her lap, "that he was the leader of the band of men who kidnapped Aida and blackmailed Br'ce."

K'rom blinks as he listens, nodding as his face goes slowly pale when he realizes what Donavon did. "He-He did that?!" Kie blinks and shifts in he chair, "I had no clue he was behind all that Roa. Poor Aida." Kie shakes his head and looks a little guilty, "And poor Br'ce. If I had known he was behind that, I would of told someone about it."

"I don't see how you could have known. I don't expect it was anything he was advertising. Still, in the future, K'rom, I would ask that should any other dark dealing involve you, that you notify myself or J'cor or another of the leadership, rather than waiting for someone to come and question you." Roa sits a bit straighter, setting her shoulders back. "You're a rider now, and your first loyalty should be to the Weyr and the people within. Sometimes that can mean finding a bit more courage than you thought you had." Her head tips to the side and a small, sad smile is offered the greenrider.

K'rom chews on his lower lip and nods, "I know Roa and that's why I am not arguing about testifying. I probably should of said more when I first warned you about E'sere, but I didn't know all the trouble that would be caused...."

"Yes," the weyrwoman agrees gently, "You should have. But, in point of fact, your timing happened to be, albeit accidentally, perfect. So thank you, K'rom, for sharing what you did, when you did. What is going to happen next couldn't have happened without you."

K'rom blinks and nods again, chewing on his lower lip. "I am happy to help. I do wonder what will happen if E'sere isn't convicted and sent away, but I am glad I told. I know N'ka was scared for his sister, but she will go to Ruatha to stay with my brother and his wife. E'sere doesn't know he's there now."

"His sister is at Ruatha now? Well, that's probably wise. I do believe, K'rom, that E'sere *will* be convicted and punished. I believe it very strongly. Now..." Roa shifts slightly, unlacing her hands to lean her weight a little to the side, supported with one straightened arm, "I would ask that the things we've discussed here and the knowledge you have about our intent to pursue E'sere remain between us for the time being."

K'rom nods at Roa, "N'ka was suppose to talk to his sister and take her there. That's part of what held him back." Kie sighs and shakes his head, "I hope E'sere is convicted and punished, I really do." Kie then looks at Roa and nods, "I-I won't tell anyone Roa, I promise that. You have my word." Plus, why make yourself a target sooner than need be?

Another small nod. "Thank you, I appreciate that. You'll know, I think, when it's safe for you to speak of it." Calmly, Roa scoots forward and slides into a stand. "Thank you, again, for coming to see me."

K'rom nods and smiles at Roa, standing up from his chair. "Thank you for listening, as well as speaking to N'ka." Kie nods, "And thank you for answering my questions. I won't speak of it to anyone." Kie bows then, "I am glad you are staying here Roa."

Another small smile from the once-Telgari, this one perhaps warmer. More genuine. "So am I, K'rom. Have a good morning."

K'rom smiles back at Roa and nods, turning to head to the entrance where a watch dragon is signaled and taken, "Have a good morning as well Roa."
