What: Dean's first day on Company grounds
Who: Proto-demon Dean (
roads_end ) and Claire Bennet (
excheerleader )
Verse: BNW
There wasn't anything to pack.
That was really one of the bonuses of leaving Arizona - the only thing he'd really want to take, that he'd kill for - were those photos of home, the ones that showed his progress. Bringing them to New York would've been a

"Yeah. I mean, it'll make Sam more comfortable, so yeah. I'm ready." Dean's lip curled as the dog came too close to him, pulling away slightly. "Don't tell me you're bringing that thing."
Dean wasn't sure why it wasn't biting him and even if it did, it wasn't gonna do much damage - he reached out and nudged it further away, figuring it would get the point. And then the little bastard has to come right back and Dean gave up, figuring it was two minutes being close to the mutt and that was it. The proto-demon focused on Claire, black eyes unblinking.
"You look beat," Dean said, except it was more of a question than a statement. Half the time he didn't understand how her ability worked; if he didn't feel impressed by the fast healing, he probably would've been creeped out.

"It's just early, nothing I can't handle. It takes me a little bit of time every morning to wake up. Because I? Am so not a morning person." She pushed herself to stand, and made her way into the kitchen so she could find a soda and other sugary items that would help wake her up.
"We'll leave here in a few minutes, okay?"

"Leff go." She nodded toward the door, her words muffled by the muffin in her mouth. "Iff fime fo go." She was still pretty sad about that, but the delicious muffin was helping improve her mood.

"Will you visit every now and then?" Dean glanced down the street, looking for any sign of the taxi. He wasn't sure how things stood between him and this Claire - she was trust as frustrating sometimes as the one he knew back in Arizona - but he still tolerated her, which had to mean something. She wasn't bad, as humans went. Could've turned out a whole lot worse, even if she had some funky ideas she needed to lose.

"Yeah, of course I will. I go by to visit Peter and everyone else a lot, so I'll be sure to come see you, too."

"Are you sure about doing this?"

It wasn't like he thought it was gonna be particularly dangerous. That other Claire had made it more than crystal clear that whatever staff they had in the Company? Weren't skilled or creative enough to pose a threat at all; there was little to zero chance that he could risk another wipe and lose that obedience to Sam. Not when he'd already been broken once and built up a resistance. So yeah, he was pretty sure this was gonna be a cakewalk in that aspect. The hardest part was probably gonna be waiting, and hoping that Sam didn't get into anything major while he was separated.
Dean glanced out the window, the city flashing by the windows as the taxi sped down the streets.
"How long 'till we get there?"

"It shouldn't take you too long to get fully checked in, since you already filled out the paperwork." She explained as she led the way inside the building, and made her way through the factory to the side door. She typed in the code that unlocked it, and gestured for him to go through first. There wasn't any turning back now.

"They change the code frequently, right?" Dean asked. "How reinforced is this place?"
He couldn't say for sure without testing it himself, but if this place knew what it was doing, it should at least be as reinforced as home. At least, that's what he would've done, except he'd learned not to expect too much of this new, "improved" Company with their soft stance. It still blew him mind that they weren't conducting experiments to be thorough.

They made their way down the long hallway that eventually led to the front desk, and Claire motioned for Dean to wait behind her as she asked the girl working where Dean was supposed to go to check in. A short conversation later, she turned back around to face Dean, frowning.
"She's going to call for an agent who can escort you to where you'll be staying. So I guess once they get here, that's it."

He turned to her with a small smile. This was gonna change things between Sam and him, he was sure of it. Hell, Claire should totally join him, it beat sitting around with that dog of hers and maybe she could help turn this place around. Make it more efficient, more thorough. He'd believed in her in Arizona and he believed she had that potential to get serious about this kinda crap even now.

"Look, let me get a picture." Her tone and expression softened, and she pulled out a small digital camera from her bag. She held it up and motioned for him to pose, and she realized he probably didn't have any idea why in the hell she was doing this.
"I keep an album of all of my friends and family. You need to be in it too."

Oh, like a photo of him in one piece. He figured if he ever needed to get bolted together again, he'd really rather have someone who had some kinda roadmap to follow and a picture was a lot better than guessing. Dean nodded and handed it back to her.
"Go ahead," he said with a shrug. He reached down, fidgeting uncomfortably with the clothes he had on and while it'd be a lot more accurate to strip down so the photo would be more useful, he figured it was probably best to avoid going right down to his birthday suit right there in front of the receptionist's desk.
