Bonne fête à moi.

Today is my birthday. Such a simple sentence, that one, but I have no other way to phrase it. It was sort of like any other day...17 is not as monumental as 18, anyways. But the day had that sort of exciting feel about it, even though I wasn't doing anything special. Just the fact that the novelty of having a birthday hasn't quite worn off yet, so you're still able to feel enthused about the previous notion you held that April 9th is a day All About Me. I know it's other things, too, especially for us Canucks - Vimy Ridge Day, for example. I love being able to say that something so patriotic, in a sense, happened in history the same day that I was born. Anyways, cake soon. Otherwise known as The Best Part.

These past weeks have been really quite good. I've woken up (reluctantly early, sometimes) in a good mood. Especially on the weekends when I sleep in and wake up to the sun streaming through my window. Though the weather has declined in the past few days - there was a bit of snow this morning, actually - I still find most things to be enjoyable. Even school. I'm definitely coming to appreciate this semester, which is something I'm grateful for. What I mean is that I'm grateful for the ability to appreciate something before it's over. It's like that old saying that is too terribly true, "You don't know what you have until it's gone." This is all too true, especially when it comes to the nature of humans.

As for exciting things coming up: TORONTO! Next weekend! Myself and a friend are taking the Greyhound there. I absolutely love Toronto. Lots of good memories, mostly. But it's such a place. Too good. So I'm definitely looking forward to that.

And, my French class sang me happy birthday today! Of course, I became red in the face. Et, ils ont chante en français, bien sûr. (Je n'ai pas utilise un traducteur pour cet!)
