Tom really needed to invest in some better drapes. The ones hanging now were no match for the afternoon sun streaming through them. Lee groaned and tossed his arm over his eyes. He couldn't sleep anymore. Maybe he needed another drink.

He got up and fished out his wand, casting a few weak cleaning charms on himself. Though he might be a pathetic bloke drinking in the middle of the day, he didn't want to smell like one.

Tom gave him a look when he wandered downstairs and sat down heavily on a stool. Lee gave him a look back and asked for a double.

"You've post waiting for you," Tom said gruffly, pulling out a stack of letters and a package out.

"Thanks," Lee muttered, picking up the first note, from Ang, and read over it. She was offering him a place to stay. Because he didn't have a home.

"Tom can I get some parchment? And a quill?" He set Ang's note aside and opened up the next one. Had Al been there on Wednesday? Maybe he had seen her. With Katie. He scoffed, and wondered if she'd sent a note.

Another offer for a place to stay. He couldn't even remember the last time Al had stopped by the flat to say hello. Did it really have to come to another crisis for his friends to come out of the woodwork?

The next note was attached to a parcel, and he recognized Verity's curly lettering. He read over it and grinned faintly, and a peek inside the package revealed clean clothes. Verity was sweet. He still had no idea what she, or anyone else, could do to help, but at least she'd done something. He wondered if she'd spelled away the smoky smell or had washed them.

Then a note from Professor Trelawney had him taking a long drink.

I am quite glad that you have each other during this time.

Fuck. He was useless. He'd spent two days drinking and hiding. He needed to see George. Recognizing  the handwriting on the last note, he opened it and scanned it. Oliver was right, George could do something stupid and Lee wouldn't even know. He didn't even know where he was. Bill had found him before he ended up at the Leaky and said the hospital was admitting him, but that was two days ago.

Tom came back with parchment and Lee grabbed it and started writing. He'd answer Oliver's owl, and he'd send a note to Bill. He needed to know what was going on.

Oliver,

I think I'll take you up on that offer. I'll maybe stop by tonight?

We should probably talk. I'll

Lee

Bill,

Is George still at St Mungo's?
