They'd got back earlier today. Or maybe it was yesterday. Lavender wasn't entirely sure what timezone she was on at the moment. At least, she wasn't on British time. It was nearly midnight, but felt more like it was midday.
"You should try sleeping," James suggested from where he was lounging on the couch with a herbology journal.
"So should you," Lavender retorted playfully. She switched on the wireless, twisting the volume and finding something interesting to listen to. Returning to him, she put her hands on the arm of the couch to lean over and give him an upside down kiss. "We should have gone to that dance class earlier," she mused. "Might have tired me out properly." She'd promised Lola she would go, but now she'd missed the first two classes.
James snorted, closing the journal. "And sneaking into my shower wasn't tiring?"
Grinning, Lavender slipped onto the couch beside him, cuddling into his embrace. "Mmm. That was nice. I could think of some things that involve more energy, if you want." She kissed his neck because it was the nearest place she could manage without actually moving her head.
He shifted against her, looking down at Lavender with dark eyes. "Move in. Properly, I mean, not just slowly invading my wardrobe and everything."
Lavender's eyes widened. She'd been thinking about it, even hoping for it. "I think I'd like that." She moved to kiss him properly this time, fingers sliding into his hair, but pausing with her lips barely brushing his as they heard
the announcement.
She pulled back, blinking. No, that was... The shop couldn't be on fire. That was just ridiculous. Lavender blinked again, certain that she might start crying. This couldn't be happening. George and Lee and...
James' arms looped around her pulling her in close; Lavender let out a shaky breath against his shoulder, trembling all over. There was no way she was going to sleep tonight.
