Pansy frowned once more. She had been surprised when Neville told her Tuesday he was at the hospital, but that she shouldn't worry. Honestly, how was she not supposed to be worried? He seemed fine, though his hand really was in quite a state.
"You have my word on that." She laughed at the image of Neville's uptight Master snickering at his misfortune, and brought the cheese, bread, and fruit to the table. "Can you manage picking it up, or do I have to feed you?" she teased, sitting down across from him.
Neville waggled his eyebrows. "I don't know. Might be sort of sexy to have you feed me, but no, I reckon I can manage." He laughed as he sat down.
"It's a good thing I have Lini and Coop. I couldn't even grasp a rake yesterday. It doesn't hurt anymore though, so that's good." Neville popped a cheese cube in his mouth. "Instead of feeding, I do have something else I would love your help with, Pansy. Would you be willing to run some Arthimancy projections for me? I've been thinking about the landscaping business and how with hiring the elves, the routine work all runs fairly smooth. I'm thinking of offering more snow cleanup and holiday decorating this winter, but I'd like an idea about whether it would be cost effective with the other plans I have. Those Arthimancy projections you worked up for me for this summer worked great," he told her.
She nodded. "Of course. It won't take me long, I'm sure."
"The added winter business would be very profitable, I'm sure. Are you certain you want to take on more responsibility, though?" She knew it was selfish, but she rarely saw him now, and added work would just take away what time she did have with him. Of course, that wasn't entirely fair. She hoped they'd still be together then, but she knew better than to assume it outright.
This was the hardest part of dating. The constant 'what if'. Before, she'd known she'd marry Draco because it was just what made the most sense. She didn't really worry about the status of her relationship much. Sure, she tried to keep him happy, but that was because she wanted to. With Neville, she certainly saw herself with him for a long time, but didn't have the guarantee. She still had a lot she wanted to do, and if she ever got married she didn't think it would be for a long time, but the what if still remained.
"I'll tell you why I'm thinking about it. Between the profits from the fruit on the plot outside of town and the extra work I was able to take on with the elves, I'm pretty close to being able to afford to buy the land. If I work through the winter, I should be able to buy it come spring," he told her, grinning.
