Ron wasn't about to miss Ginny's birthday celebration at the Burrow. He'd had a good enough time at her party at Belladonna, and the cake Angelina made was great, but there was none of his mother's cooking, which he'd not had in awhile. He Floo'd to the Burrow and expected to see most of his family already there. Surprisingly, he found only Ginny and Mum when he got there.

"Hullo, Mum, Gin," he said. "Hope dinner's soon. 'm starving."

"Hey, Ron." Ginny stood at the cooler when Ron walked into the kitchen. "Want something to drink?"

She was glad he'd come to dinner even though she'd seen him the night before. She knew Mum would want to see all of her children.

"Hey, Gin. Happy birthday for real." Ron walked over and gave her a one-armed hug. "Butterbeer's good, thanks. So were you happy with your birthday haul?"

Ginny took two butterbeers out of the cooler. She popped the top on both and handed one to Ron.

"It was a great party, wasn't it?" she said with a smile. "I got a lot of nice stuff. Wasn't exactly expecting presents because I really just wanted to get everyone together, but it was fun and nice of people to bring gifts."

She took a big swig of her drink. "Did you have fun?"

Ron took a long swig of butterbeer. "I reckon if you don't say 'No gifts!' on the invitation, people will bring them," he observed. He'd not minded getting gifts at his own party in March, but maybe that was because he'd always been at school for his birthday and hadn't had a real party since he turned eleven.

Ron nodded. "Yeah, I had fun. Probably should have talked to more people." And maybe danced, he thought, which was ironic given how much he used to hate it.

"That's probably true," she said with a nod of her head. She really needed to remember to send thank you notes to the people who had left gifts for her. She'd not even opened everything until this morning when she's sorted through the pile on her bedroom floor.
