Date: Monday, July 8, 1999 | after work Characters: Cho Chang, Marcus Flint Location: Best Brooms, Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, The Leaky Cauldron Status: Private Summary: Cho surprises Marcus with a visit. Completion: InComplete
Marcus had been clearing out the stockroom upstairs for the past few hours and was extremely glad it was time to finish for the day. His boss seemed to have picked up on the fact that he wasn't exactly thrilled to be here and had given him back all the tedious, mind numbingly boring jobs. The fact that he had come in on a few occasions with a stinking hangover wasn't helping either. But as long as he did enough to keep his job, Marcus couldn't bring himself to care very much.
He was picking his cloak up off it's peg in the back room when the shop bell tinkled. The annoyingly loud sound interrupted his thoughts. Marcus had been wondering whether he should go to the Leaky, which was closer to work. Or to the Hog's Head, which was nearer to his Father's house if he was to have a drink.
Marcus leaned round the door to see who was in the shop and a brief smile appeared on his face when he saw it was Cho. The smile quickly disappeared to be replaced with a slight frown.
Why was she here?"Um, hello," Marcus said, half-wishing Mr Best was

"Hey, Marcus." She gave a little half-wave when she saw him, right before he asked how he could help her. She glanced around the shop, glad no one else was there. "No, my broom is fine, thanks." She walked over to the counter, "I just came by to see you." She smiled hesitantly, "I'm glad I caught you before you left."
"Oh. Hello," Marcus said, feeling stupid for repeating himself.
She had come especially to see him? For a moment Marcus wondered if she had heard about his failure and had come to rub it in. He dismissed that thought quickly. He hadn't known Cho for long but he knew she wasn't like that.
She must be hoping he would carry on training with her, Marcus decided. He wasn't sure he felt like flying at the moment. Or whether he ever would again.
Marcus returned Cho's smile and told Mr Best he was leaving.
Marcus told his boss he was leaving and then asked her to go with him. She supposed it would be better to talk away from his workplace. At least, he seemed like he wouldn't mind talking to her. She smiled, "Sure, thanks."
After they left Best Brooms and began walking, she glanced over at him. "I got your reply to my letter.” She still couldn’t read much from his face as to how he feeling but felt she should just say why she had come. “I'm sorry, Marcus. I understand if you don’t want to talk about it, and that you might not want to with me. I just thought you should know the offer stands, if you need a friend.”
