...did you know that there's a light, and it's gonna shine right through your eyes. )
On the way to the waiting room, he stopped off to use the toilet and splash some water on his face. He needed more coffee, but it could wait for now. When he entered the waiting room, he grinned at his family and those friends who were practically family.
"It's a girl," he told them. "Genevieve Grace. She was, uh, 52 centimeters, and I think they said she weighed 2.4 kilograms." He should have written that down, but he was pretty sure that was right. After he hugged his mum and dad, he looked at his mum, hoping that his dad would understand him asking her first.
"Did you want to come in to see her? Fleur's asleep, but I can bring in someone." He'd been told that he could bring no more than three people, but he wanted to start with one in case Gigi didn't want a lot of people around staring at her. "I think that Gigi would like to meet her grandmother."

"Congratulations, Bill," she said, her eyes glistening with happy tears. "I'd love to come meet my granddaughter." She picked up her handbag. "I brought sandwiches, tea and pumpkin juice if you need anything. And I'll leave a sandwich for Fleur. I'm sure she'll be hungry when she wakes up. Gigi. I'm sure she's going to be a little wonder."

He walked her back to Fleur's room and stepped inside. "She's over here." He led his mum over to the cot where Gigi was lying. She was still awake, but she'd quieted down some from earlier. He carefully picked her up and held her against him. "Gigi, this is your grandmum. Mum, meet Gigi."

Molly followed Bill into the room, looking over at her sleeping daughter-in-law before seeing her granddaughter. She felt herself tear up again at the sight of the tiny baby in her son's arms.
"Hello Gigi," she said quietly. "Oh Bill, she's beautiful. I'm so proud of you, son. You're going to make a wonderful father. You're going to be such a happy girl, Gigi," she said to her granddaughter, touching her little fingers gently, "because you have such incredible parents, and me and your grandpa and your grandmere and grandpere and all your uncles and aunties. And we're all going to love you so much."

He wasn't sure if he'd be a good father or not, but he was going to try. He figured that was part of it, trying as much as he could and not being scared to make mistakes. Only, he hated making mistakes, so that was something he'd have to deal with personally.
"I've sent an owl to Fleur's parents, but I'm not sure when they'll arrive. I'm glad that you're here, you and dad and the others. I need to send Ginny an owl now that Gigi is here, but it'll probably be later."
Reply
"I'm sure they'll get here soon. And don't rush yourself, love. You need to rest up too. Remember if you and Fleur need anything, anything at all, you can always get in touch with me or your father and we'll be glad to help. I can look after little Gigi if you two just need to take a nap or have some alone time. It's no hassle at all."

"I've been resting all day. All I could do was sit and wait, after all." He nodded. "I know, Mum. I might need to ask for you to help Fleur when I have to go back to work. I'm not sure yet how long she'll stay off work, but, knowing Fleur, she's got everything planned already."
He was hesitant to ask, but he knew it was selfish if he didn't. "Did you want to hold her?"
Reply
She nodded "Whatever you need. Just let me know." She beamed when he asked if she'd like to hold Gigi and held out her arms.
"Hello my darling," she cooed, when Bill had passed her over. She looked down into the face of her little granddaughter and felt such happiness that she'd not felt since before the war, since Fred had died.
