This was frustrating. Fleur was obviously in pain, and there was nothing Bill could do to help. In fact, it was his fault that she was going through all this now. Well, not fault, since the baby was something they both wanted, but he still felt guilty. There wasn't much he could do since they'd arrived at St. Mungos except try to make her comfortable ( ... )

Fleur wanted her baby but she knew she'd see her sooner if she cooperated and let everyone clean her up and help her into the bed, which she asked to be sat up. She had no desire to lie down when she wanted to hold her child.

Finally she was free of the flurry of activity and saw that Bill was holding her. She swiped her sweaty hair back from her face and smiled at her husband. "We do? Per'aps you might bring her over so that I can meet her too?" she teased.

"Huh?" He looked up and blinked at Fleur before he smiled sheepishly. "I have to share? I don't know if I like that. Might should have had two, so we'd each have one."

He carefully stood up and walked to the hospital bed. "She's loud," he confided to Fleur, as if she couldn't hear their baby making noise. "Fleur, meet our daughter." He looked down at the baby and couldn't say Victorie because he hadn't liked the name much before but definitely didn't think it suited now. He shifted the baby so that Fleur could hold her before he introduced them. "This is Mum."

"Maybe next time, 'usband." She grinned and teased, "Per'aps in a year or two we can negotiate ze terms?"

"She is a Weasley. Were you expecting something less?" Fleur took her daughter and felt her eyes tearing up. "Oh," Fleur was in love. "She is so tiny. Look at her eyes, Bill. She knows her mama." She knew that babies couldn't really focus well enough at first but Vic... no, that name did not suit this little girl at all. "Hello, little one. She is beautiful, Bill. She needs a pretty name."

"Next time? Maybe we should get through this time before we start thinking about that," he told her. "A year or two is good."

He shrugged a shoulder. "I don't really know what I was expecting. She's beautiful, even with the pink wrinkly face." He kept touching the tiny little hand, just amazed that this baby was theirs. It amazed him how life worked, how she was just inside Fleur and was now making noise and looking at them with big eyes.

"Yes, she does," he agreed. "Does this mean you've changed your mind about the other one?" He wasn't sure if he sounded too hopeful, but Fleur knew that he hadn't been particularly fond of Victorie. "What is she telling us that her name should be?"

"All bebes are a leetle wrinkly, Bill." Fleur sighed contentedly.

"I never wanted it so much as I wanted my daughter to 'ave sometheeng French, Bill. She is English and a Weasley. I do not want that to be different but I wanted her to 'ave sometheeng of me and my home too," she confessed softly. Fleur missed Marseilles and her family, but she loved Bill so much she did not mind giving up her country to be with him. That did not mean she wanted to lose everything she left behind or not let her daughter appreciate her mother's heritage too.

"Fleur, you know that I'm not against a French name. I've been open to anything that you want," he said before he leaned down to kiss her sweaty cheek. "I just didn't like the literal meaning of Victorie. It doesn't suit her, though. I can see that clearly now."

"I did not know zat. I should 'ave asked better questions," she had assumed because he had not liked any of her French suggestions for boy's name. She looked closely at her daughter. "What would you like to be called, cheri? You do not look like a Vicki to Mama." Fleur started to run through a litany of names in her head but stopped. "Genevieve," Fleur whispered, trying it out then saying it louder, "Genevieve. Do you like it, Bill? Genevieve Weasley?" Fleur liked the sound of it.

"I thought I'd been clear about that, but maybe not." He looked down at the baby and touched her cheek lightly. When Fleur suggested a name, he considered it, rolling it around in his head.

"Genevieve Grace," he suggested, not entirely sure where Grace came from, but he liked it. He stroked his thumb across the back of the baby's hand. Genevieve Grace Weasley. G.G. Weasley. He slowly smiled. "Do you like that, little Gigi?"

Fleur smiled a broad smile. It was perfect. "Genevieve Grace Weasley. That is precious, Bill." Little Gigi seemed to agree. "I theenk she likes it." Of all the virtue names they tossed about in jest during her pregnancy like Prudence and Chastity, they'd never joked about Grace. Fleur thought it was interesting that Bill would end up suggesting one seriously but it was very pretty and perfect for their daughter.

She kissed the baby's forehead and offered her to Bill. "Would you like to hold her again before you go tell everyone we 'ave a leetle girl?"

"Does she?" He grinned down at the baby. No, not the baby. Genevieve. It suited her, even though he rather liked Gigi more. It was good to have something shorter to be called, though. He knew that from his own childhood, when Bill was much easier to learn than William. "I think she does, too."

"I would," he said, shifting so that he could pick up Gigi. "You should get some rest, Wife. I think I'm only awake right now because of all the coffee. I don't want you getting too tired, though." He kissed her lightly before he moved Gigi into his arms.

"I am not sl-l-ee-py," she yawned through the word. "Or maybe I am. I theenk I will rest now for a leetle bit." Fleur drew her finger along Gigi's cheek. "You be good for your Papa, yes? Mama loves you."

The Midwife came and told them that she was 52 centimeters inches long and weighed 3.4 kilograms and took down her name, having Fleur spell it to make sure it was correct, while one of the Medi-witches took the baby from Bill so the Healer could make a more thorough examination. By the time Bill had Gigi back in his arms, Fleur was asleep.
