It was weird how fast work had become such a huge part of life. Wayne had only been working at the Three Broomsticks for a few weeks, but it was already habit to go in and work long hours even when it wasn't necessary. Now that he had the day off, at Rosmerta's urging, he was left without any particular idea what to do with himself.
Everything had been all over the place before he'd started working full-time. Least, it had seemed to be. With the whole learning he had an uncle thing, his mum was different, and it was strained to go home in a way that it had never been before. It wasn't that she hated him or blamed him, but he knew she was uncomfortable and so it was easier to not be around much for her to have time to do whatever she needed.
Course, he'd not seen his uncle since he confirmed that his bio-dad was Gawain's wife's brother. Too busy with work, Wayne figured, and he didn't want to pester him for a meeting or force family on him. Kinda fucked up, though, that the reason things were strange with his mum was the uncle thing but the uncle thing might not even matter to the man.
There was work to be done on the Minister's office plans, and he was now free to focus on the cooking lessons since he'd done the menu tasting dinner last week. He wasn't ready to sit and focus on building or planning yet, though, so he took his football to the park. Kicking the ball generally put him in a good mood, plus it let him get rid of any aggression that might have built up over the busy week.
The ground was muddy in spots from yesterday's rain, but the weather was perfect today. Sunny and warm, ideal for being outdoors. He already felt better and knew it wouldn't take long before he was able to focus on doing something with his free day that didn't involve thinking too much. Wasn't fond of thinking, really. He kicked the football and watched it roll towards, smiling as he started to run after it.
