Fife was in a really bad mood. He usually was in a bad mood after flooing, but it seemed that Oliver's Christmas present for him was not going over well. He tried to get the Puddlemere United jersey off with no success and now was scowling at Katie.
"If you promise to behave, maybe I can get you some nice boxers, okay?" Katie told him as she unpacked her things, wondering yet again why she'd ended up with such a weird cat.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. She went downstairs, wondering who it could be, seeing as she'd only been back a few hours.
She smiled when she saw Dean standing on the step, but it soon faded as she took in the expression on his face.
"Dean? Is everything okay?" She asked worriedly. She hoped something hadn't happened to his family.
As soon as Katie answered the door, Dean already felt a little better. Then her smile dropped, and he realized just how downtrodden he must look. He gave her a small smile and shook his head. "Hey. All right, I suppose. Sorry I didn't owl first. Kind of came over here on a whim, actually."
"It's fine, really. Come inside," Katie said, anxious to get him in the house and out of the cold. He said everything was alright, but it was clear that something was bothering him.
"Do you want a drink? Tea? Coffee? I can make up some of your grandmum's hot chocolate?" She offered, making her way to the kitchen.
"Thanks," he said, following her inside. He took off his cloak and hung it on the coat rack that was near the door, then walked with her into the kitchen.
The thought of his Grams's hot cocoa made him smile. He'd watched as she'd painstakingly mixed vats of those ingredients just so he could give a jar to each of his friends. "Hot chocolate sounds perfect. Make sure you follow her instructions precisely, I was told. Grams has supposedly perfected the recipe."
