Katie didn't have to look at the calendar to know it was only one month until Christmas; shops were decorated, carols were playing on the wireless, and it was cold in Hogsmeade.
She wasn't planning on doing any shopping today, but she thought she'd get a head's start on it, so she didn't end up swamped and running around at the last minute. She'd already crossed Hermione off her list, having gone back to the Muggle lingerie shop to pick up the black corset. She couldn't afford to get presents for everyone she wanted to, but she figured she could do some baking and wrap cookies up in pretty paper with some nice cards.
For her close friends, she had some ideas in mind, but nothing concrete, so she strolled down High Street, looking in shop windows and waiting for inspiration to strike.
