It had been a relief when Bill had suggested meeting this evening. It was frustrating enough to have to speak to someone about such concerns, but Hermione hadn't wanted to get into the topic at school. In a way, she felt as if she'd waited until the last moment, most likely because she had, but she had resisted having to actually to talk to anyone. Now that it was nearly a full moon, though, and her nightmares were keeping her from sleeping more nights than not, she knew she needed to discuss it with someone who might understand ( ... )

Bill heard the flames go up as Hermione Flooed in. He set down his lessons and smiled, moving to give her a quick hug. She was a friend first, student second. "Hello, Hermione. Can I get you something to eat? Drink?" He gestured towards a chair across from the small loveseat he was on. "Never a hardship, visiting with you. Did you enjoy yourself at the picnic? Didn't get to talk to you later." She hadn't seemed terribly comfortable talking about the attack, but Bill felt a certain amount of protectiveness towards her, having spent nearly a month in her company that year. She was a bright, sensible witch, and he could only hope Ron or Harry noticed before someone else did. She was good for them, though he had been proud of how they'd been so protective of her after her ordeal.

"I just ate, but thank you." She smiled and sat down, resisting the impulse to act as if she'd just come to speak with him about Ancient Runes. It would be easy to give some vague excuse and leave, but it wouldn't help her relax.

She nodded. "The picnic was lovely. I enjoyed it," she said. She looked at him and smiled wryly, knowing she should be honest. "I don't want to lie to you, Bill. It was difficult, being outdoors and around so many people. I'm getting better about being social, but crowds make me tense, and I have this odd issue with being outside now, which is very frustrating."

He listened, knowing she needed the chance to make her way to what was really on her mind. Somehow, the picnic wasn't it. "I'm sorry, then. We should have told you that the house was open if you had wanted to get a bit of a breather from folks. Hell, even Charlie and I had to take a walk away from folks." OF course, why they had to take a walk was a topic best saved for Charlie alone.

"Now, what about the outdoors alarms you? Or is it just the crowds?" He asked.

This should have been foreseen. If anything, it taught her to be more careful when planning a conversation that dealt with personal issues. Of course, it wasn't as if she could have arrived with an agenda written out and expected them to take her seriously. It would have been easier than this, though, with questions and mentions of seeing someone and things she wasn't ready to deal with yet ( ... )

Bill nodded, listening to her and Fleur. When she started to look uncomfortable at being queried he got up and moved to crouch in front of her. "Hey. It's not a bother. Ever. I'm sorry if we're intruding on your privacy, but Hermione, you're our friend. I'd be a poor one if I didn't try to help as best I know how. Yes, a lot of folks have gone through both more and less than you and I, but that doesn't mean you should have to just suffer through the aftermath if you don't have to. You don't have to go this alone, as much as you might want to be strong like that. Healer Greystone's a very sensible man, and a good listener." He paused, then said, "Some of the problems I talk to him about have to do with being attacked by Fenrir." In a roundabout way. He made a mental note to see the Healer soon, to give an update.

He reached out and gave her hand a squeeze. "You'll be fine at the full moon. Really." He took a deep breath, inhaling her scent. "You don't smell any different to me, and I'm pretty sure you would."

When Bill moved to crouch in front of her, she was surprised. He was talking about being her friend, and it was somewhat overwhelming. Not that he considered her a friend, necessarily, but their obvious concern and frank discussion. Normally, she was able to talk bluntly about things and didn't have such difficulty acknowledging her concerns. With this, though, she still felt ashamed, in a way, and blamed herself for getting caught ( ... )

"And zat is why you need to talk about it, Hermione," Fleur said softly. "Per'aps not with us but someone. There are people who have been through worse things. I will not tell you ozzerwise. I will tell you zough, exactly what I told Bill. If I, or any of your friends, were feeling ze way you feel now, would you not tell me or any of zem to take whatever 'elp zere was to fix what felt wrong? You are very brave. You need to find your bravery for zis and see ze 'ealer. Ozzerwise zese theengs may become habit and be much 'arder to break ze longer you wait." Fleur hoped her friend would either talk to them or see a healer. She could not force her though.
