Arthur felt his chest constrict tightly, taking a shuddering breath at the realization. He was not even aware of the fact that his feet were moving until he was in a full sprint.
Arthur searched frantically, fearful that it had just been an illusion, that she hadn't made...NO! She was Molly she had to make it, if she hadn't how could he possibly be alive? His body would know, his heart would simply stop if hers did. Arthur let out a small cry at the sight of his beautiful wife in front of him.
Arthur felt his heart break at the mention of Fred, the sight of his broken boys body flashing in his mind. Arthur held onto Molly with all his strength trying to cover as much of her with himself as he could, burying his face in the crook of her neck and breathing her scent in. He kept holding her, trying to reassure himself that he wasn't imagining this.
"I know," he stated grabbing her face in his hands and placing his forehead against hers. "I promise you I will get this family through this. I don't know how but I swear to you I will. I can't lose anyone else...I simply can't."
Molly held him, her beautiful strong man. He was her rock.
"I love you," She whispered before kissing him gently. "We need to find the children. We need to make sure they're okay too." She kissed him again, brushing her fingers over his weary face.
Percy heard his mother calling his father's name, and for one horrible moment thought -
But no, there he was. Dad stood in the midst of the chaos, hanging on to Mum. They both looked shattered but they were together. Molly and Arthur, that inseparable unit. That brought back thoughts of Fred, thoughts that Percy was definitely not ready to deal with.
Now his parents were looking around, and he knew exactly what they were doing - scanning the crowds and the mess for heads of bright red Weasley hair. Percy had a sudden impulse to back away, to run straight back down that tunnel to the Hog's Head and hide from them all as he had been doing for the last three years. He couldn't bear it if he looked into his father's face and saw (even for a second) the thought, it should have been you.But he couldn't hurt them like that, not again. Not now, with Fred gone, and - he didn't even know if the others had made it through okay

She followed his voice. Percy. The one she thought she'd lost forever, her son that was always so proper and good and stubborn.
She let go of Arthur's hand and moved towards him, smothering him with kisses when she reached him. "Oh Percy! Are you okay? Are you hurt? Are you bleeding anywhere? Never leave us again, promise me you'll never leave me, Percy!"
She knew she sounded hysterical but she didn't care as she wrapped her arms around him. "Promise me," she said into his chest. "promise me, Percy."
Percy let his Mum grab him and kiss him. He buried his face in her comforting shoulder. What could he say to that? She needed the reassurance, but everything in him rebelled about making that kind of promise. Nothing was safe, nothing was guaranteed.
Fred was evidence of that.
"I -" Percy's voice broke a little, and he tried again. "I want to come home, Mum. To the Burrow. If that's okay. I want to make things right."
Ginny wearily made her way through the throng of people, feeling dazed. Her body felt heavy and she prayed to whatever god would listen that they'd not lost anyone else.
She stopped by the bodies and looked at Fred, reaching down to touch his face for a moment. He shouldn't be that cold.
She heard her mum's voice and then her dad's... and when she finally pulled herself away from Fred, two more redheads had joined them. She walked up slowly, as if mired down, and watched as they hugged. She didn't think her voice would work properly, so she just waited until they were done.
Arthur turned to the sight of red hair out of the corner of his eye.
Ginny stood looking so broken, all of her fight gone. Arthur ran over to her, lifting her up in his embrace. He finally set her down, refusing to let her go completely as he peppered her head with kisses, each one cementing her safety in his head.
"My girl, my little girl, my beautiful little girl. I'm so sorry Ginny, Merlin I'm sorry."
And then her father's arms were around her and his robes were soft against her cheek and she fisted her hands in his robes and held on tight, squeezing her eyes shut against the threatening sobs.
Her throat hurt so very badly.
She shook her head, meaning for him not to be sorry, it wasn't his fault. Nothing was their faults but she couldn't say anything just then so she just hugged him and pressed her face harder against his chest as he kissed her hair over and over.
"Me too," she managed, but it was weak and brittle, on the tail end of a half sob. "Me too, Daddy."
Arthur put his head against hers, trying to cover her from all the horrors, knowing it was too late to do so.
"No, you never be sorry. You...you have done more than any person should have to do, you understand me? You are so much like your mother...Merlin Ginny I'm just..I love you ok? I love you."
Bill haltingly made his way into the Great Hall. He'd been avoiding the room since he'd stood next to Fred's body and waited for the fight to come to them. He was tired, thirsty, and his leg was starting to ache. He saw a cluster of family, and moved over to stand behind Ginny, wrapping an arm around her in a backwards hug.
"Hey, Ginbug. Miss me?" He tried to joke, but being with his family, in the midst of all the chaos, was making him ready to just....rest.
She was standing beside her father now, feeling sick with worry, her eyes still on Fred's prone form. Percy should be back now. He should have found the others. She couldn't lose anyone else.
Panic rose in her chest and then warm, strong arms wrapped around her and that voice was so beautiful that she nearly sobbed outloud.
"Bill," she gasped, turning in his arms at once and pressing her face against his chest, her hands coming up to his sides. "You're all right? You're not hurt?" She clenched her fingers into his robes in an attempt to make her hands stop shaking. She was trembling all over and she wanted so badly to be strong right now. "You're all right?" she asked again, he voice muffled against his chest.
"M'fine." He assured her, smiling gently down at her. "How are you doing, sweetheart? Anything I can do?" He ran his wandless hand up and down her back in a calming reassuring gesture.
He winced a bit as the pain in his leg grew, and maneuvered them over to a bench, where he say and pulled Ginny into his lap, cudding her with both arms, after setting his wand down. "I'm here, Ginbug." He murmured into her hair brushing it back from her face and down over her shoulders.
She nodded and then shook her head meaning she was fine, and no, nothing to be done. That question would be asked over and over and she wasn't ready to vocalize a programed response just yet. And his hand felt good on her back. He felt good.
"I'm so glad you're all right," she murmured as he moved them to sit, pulling her into his lap. He'd not done that since she was a little girl. No one had. And she was too tired and hurt to fight it. Instead she curled into him, trying to make herself as small as possible, wishing it would all go away.
"I want Fred," she said quietly, the words falling out on their own. "Where's Charlie and George?"
By the time Hermione finished helping round up the Dementors, she felt ready to go back inside. The fresh air had helped clear her mind, but she was fighting the urge to just sit down and rest. She couldn't, of course. She still needed to find Ron and Harry. She knew they were alive, fortunately, but she wanted to see them and hug them and know they were still breathing

"Oh, Arthur. I can't lose you. Not after... not after Fred." Her voice broke and she looked up at him with tears in her eyes.
"How do we go on without him? I don't think I can do it," she whispered.
