workin' girl
I'm sitting at work right now, wondering if the doctors will take pity on us and close the office early. It's looking doubtful, but since I'm "non-essential personnel" (and my boss is out 'til Jan 5), I might leave early anyway.
Quick rant:
It kind of bothers me that we're open right now. Our last patient was at 11:45. Most of the ancillary departments are gone (nuclear, xray, CT), so we can't run any tests. We're supposedly open for "problem patients," but honestly...if they're having real problems, they probably need to go to the ER. We have defib pads but we're only going to call the paramedics if someone goes into cardiac arrest. They won't even go down to skeleton crew (where 1-2 people from each dept. stay to cover things). \
SO I'm sitting here, listening to my "Bing Crosby Holiday" station on Pandora, because I have a soft spot for pretty Christmas carols (read, not poppy high-pitched ones) and Ravi won't let me listen to them at home because his workplace plays the Christmas stations all day. Christmas has been nice, even though the weather here is gross (humid, in the upper 70's and supposed to rain all day tomorrow). Erin and I exchanged gifts on Monday- she gave me The United States of Arugala, some "Mexican pin up girls" postcards, a broach necklace and a Freida Kahlo magnet. Yesterday, my department had our White Elephant party and I got a set of photo coasters. Then Ravi and I went to a potluck/white elephant party, where I got Pastoralia(!). All my Christmas shopping is done.
Ravi and I are going to exchange gifts tonight, then go to my parents house tomorrow. I thought about going to my dad's sister's party but since they moved, its a very far drive for me (especially to make twice, since they live out past my parents house, which is 45 minutes away) and I'd kind of like to just spend the evening at home with Ravi. I also have two casseroles to make (Broccoli cheese and Green Bean) and Ravi is making corn casserole (we loooove casseroles), so we have cooking to do anyway. I'm also not feeling spectacular, probably due to the insane weather here lately (yesterday morning was about 41 degrees and windy and by the time I left work, it was 74 and humid) so I want to just curl up with some hot tea, finish wrapping presents and get ready for tomorrow.
Sorry I haven't been around much. I graduated last Friday and it was a nice little affair. I'll try and get some pictures on here. I've been trying to relax after finals and take casre of Christmas stuff as well. But I'm doing fine (except the sinuses!) and I'll try and post more after Christmas :) Hope everyone has happy holidays!
