a couple of things

It has been so nice here in Cinci. I was outside in shorts yesterday! I probably could be today, too, if I actually were outside. I'm working in the classroom for now. Yesterday we were working out in the yard and a realtor for the vacant house next door came out to chat. He invited us to look through the house if we wanted, which was pretty nice since we obviously weren't going to buy it. It made us appreciate our house all the more, because it would require a lot of new paint, carpet, etc. that has already been done in our house. It also has only a tiny basement.

Yesterday I also got something in the mail for the first time about UC graduation. I was starting to wonder, because I applied for graduation a few months ago and hadn't heard anything. I was hoping there wouldn't be some random class I still needed to take. Granted, this letter was just from the UC bookstore about buying a cap and gown, but still. They must have gotten my name on a list of graduates, so that's cool. I'm certainly not going to walk for graduation, but I'm kicking around the idea of just going to the ceremony and watching. I know some people who've done that. Or, perhaps I'll just wait and be happy when my diploma comes in the mail. This summer sure will be different without all the classes, homework, and driving downtown all the time. We'll save money on gas and books.

I'm really looking forward to Easter break. The kids are driving me crazy. It's gotten to the point where I brought out THE POEM for the first time in four years. All I had to do was say, "Do you know what I used to do with kids who just couldn't seem to get along?" and one boy whose older brother was in my class way back then said, "NOOOOOOOO! Not the poem! I've heard about the poem!" It was very effective in heightening the interest level of the rest of the class. I brought it in and typed it into the Smart Board, so they've already read it all together as a class. Now whether they read it holding hands with a classmate is in their hands. Something tells me it won't come to that, because the one who would most likely be asked to read it is the one with previous knowledge of the poem, and he would be mortified if he had to do it.
