And we're back! This is the first show to come back and why not start with the best? :)
I still can't quite believe that 12 is here. But I liked what I saw, so far. I've been reading/watching interviews and man, the more they talk about this season, the more nervous I get. BUT, I really did enjoy this first ep. The second that he came out of the TARDIS, not understanding who they were, yelling about and being, well, a loon, I was like, okay, it's all right. There's the Doctor. I'm stil fairly new-ish to the series and I feel that as long as The Doctor is silly at times, I can worry less. And then of course, it's always hard when they change, since they don't know who they are yet and neither do we. So, it's always hard to judge them on the first go. I mean, Ten slept through his first episode! And Rose was not overjoyed at all to see him. She kept wishing for Nine.
So I saw nothing wrong with how Clara was reacting. The Doctor never tells anyone that he can suddenly change evey single thing about him (including his kidneys) and that hey, maybe you won't like the new me. I mean, think about the trauma of seeing someone basically disappear in front of your face. that would shock anyone. so i felt that Vastra was a bit out of line at first. Clara hadn't known Eleven long had she? And then he goes and changes. Leaving her with a stranger, a stranger who doesnt know her or anything. No one wouldn't be affected by that.
And then you have him seemingly abandoning her and there was a part of me that expected him not show up. that she would have to find a way out on her own. So I was so happy when he grabbed her hand and i really enjoyed their banter. i didn't get a sense that she was a control freak from season seven but okay then. but i absolutely adored Clara in this.
Twelve was really funny at times and then he was really serious too when he had that conversation about the broom with that robot dude? Yeah. I do wonder about that face, though. Are they going to explain why that face was chosen? He knows that he saw it from somewhere, what will happen when he finds out? It's a pretty famous face around certain parts!
I don't think that he pushed the robot dude out of the balloon (and wow, a bit much on the whole impaling image there) the robot seemed to understand that he could self destruct, so mabye he jumped? I mean, can they have The Doctor committ murder in his first episode (or at all? I mean he has before, we know it, but I don't know, first go out...seems a bit unsettling)
I am looking forward to seeing more of his personality developing as we go along and I hope that Clara stays and helps him out. It has to be the freakiest thing, knowing that this stranger is still your friend, so I hope their banter continues, and that they can accept each other and that Twelve isn't too dark. I don't need slapstick in every ep, but I also don't need a dick either. Still worried.
And now we have to talk about the cameo. That broke me down. I thought that I was hearing things at first, but when they showed Matt...insta!sobs. I am ready to welcome Twelve, but Eleven!! And the fact that he took the time to call her up and ask her to help him...to basically save the new guy too. And then Twelve just made it worse when he said that he is standing right in front of her and she doesn't see him. *clutches heart* OW, Moffat. A little warning would have been nice. I just feel like yeah, that is so Eleven, to make sure that she is okay. :) And i hope they will be!
The one thing that bugged me was the boyfriend stuff. Please no. Just, stop. I don't know about that woman. She could be a totally luantic or evil or both. No idea who she could be.
