Streaming fun

So I decided this week to try my paw at streaming my art creation process, mostly on a whim. After some work, I managed to figure out three ways to do this:

  • I can use FFmpeg, mjpegtools and vloopback to run a screencast on my desktop for digital work. This means that I need to clear the screen of distractions and do my socializing on my netbook.
  • I can use a special driver to turn my phone into a webcam for pencil work. The catch is, I need to find a way to prop the phone up so it can provide a decent viewing angle.
  • I can do the webcast from my netbook using its built-in webcam, no kludges required. The catch is, it'll take up desk space and I have difficulty illuminating the page to make my pencilwork visible to end users.

So I managed my first stream last night (and did a second one this evening while I experimented with option 3). Now that I know how to add a soundtrack for the first two options, I should be fine in the future. In the meantime, here's the fruit of that labour (click to enlarge):

Will I do this again? Quite possibly, though I'll probably publicize it a bit more. How does this weekend sound?

Also, you can make your own picket signs. Instructions are on FA.
