Shallum apparently acquired a 400-pound bluefin tuna late last week. These fish are so prized they are generally flown directly to Japan for resale. The kitchen staff at the Dropoff estimated the eventual resale value of that one fish in Japan to be about $60,000. (EDIT: I've since heard estimates from $12,000 to $300,000; be skeptical, be verrrrrrrry skeptical). But this one was split among four restaurants here on island, so we had $20 plates of grilled bluefin tuna (and salad). Dave, Lori, Nelson, Yashee and Danka all came out to try it. Dave kept saying it was the best fish he had ever tasted. I had to agree -- that was a very tasty fish. Most people felt it tasted more like a sirloin than a tuna. Delicious.
Then Yashee picked up her new wii. So we went back to Dave & Lori's and wii'ed. The boxing was the best, although everyone seemed to like the bowling as well. For boxing, we were all just freewheel pummeling each other (or the air in front of us). It actually was quite a workout . . . .
