Work in Colonia, Yap, Micronesia

I'm helping to interview applicants for the Lease Coordinator job in our State government, a new job that is absolutely needed. And I'm trying to be culturally sensitive. The first applicant's answers to all questions were a barely perceptible nod or headshake, or a barely audible "no," "yes," or "I don't know." Danka is one of the 4 finalists. I won't participate in that interview.

THERE WERE TOMATOES AT THE STORE YESTERDAY! And they are not rotten, frozen or smushed, just a bit pre-ripe. We bought more than 20 and they are ripening nicely at home. AND flour tortillas. PLUS more lettuce. A veritable cornucopia of veggie goodness.

And I got designated by the Director of Resources & Development to attend a party Sunday in his place (and to repesent my office) to say farewell to 3 Forest Service employees and welcome new ones (including one of our Peace Corps Volunteers). At least my reputation for attending parties is spreading rapidly.
