PNCC START USING O3b

In a conference call with PNCC on October 15, 2014, O3b Networks officially approved for PNCC to start using the new O3b satellite link. O3b Networks is a new satellite company that provides faster satellite bandwidth service. PNCC has been working to install and secure the link and is very eager to start using it to provide better Internet speed for customers.

In anticipation of the approval of the O3b link, PNCC has continued to expand its WiFi coverage to prepare for spreading the improved Internet speed to more customers. PNCC has installed new equipment for expanded WiFi coverage to include both Koror and Airai sides of the Palau-Japan Friendship Bridge, Airport parking and surrounding areas, and the downtown area including Bethlehem, old OEK, Public Safety, and around the Ministry of Finance. PNCC crews are now working to install more WiFi in other areas such as Meyuns Swimming Pool, Asahi Field, PCC Track & Field, Ngerulmud and others.

PNCC will start migrating its customers to the new O3b link while it continues to work to improve other services. Recently PNCC completed a project to allow HomeNet Service in all Babeldoab states, now including Ngchesar. PNCC is also getting prepared and setting up for its 3G project, which will provide mobile data services in Koror and Airai.
“PNCC hopes that this new O3b link will prove to be successful and lead to more improvement of PNCC Internet Services,” said PNCC General Manager Paul Kingzio.
